I recently bought this scope mount because I had a need to practice my ranging skills and unfortunately I don’t live where I can point a scoped rifle at stuff to do so without the neighbors calling the Cops.

My plan is to use this mount to allow me to practice around town with just the scope mounted on a cut down Ruger 10/22 stock I have.

That would allow me to get 3-5 times the amount of ranging practice that I would just going out on the weekends.  The cost of course is a “shifting zero.”

Many people on www.snipershide.com warned me that there is no system that truly returns to zero, but ...

Style and function best describe this piece of artwork.

I first came across Mark’s work on
http://www.warriortalk.com when I saw him starting to share his handy work with steel.

Well I found two webpages that answer that question better than I ever could.

They both use FLASH and if you watch the cycling of the gun and play with the cutaway options there should be no questions left.

Check it out!

Probably the most complete and recognized tutorial on smoothing the Glock trigger out.  Also great for general disassembly and assembly.

I’m saving this for posterity sake in a PDF, but the original should still be available at: http://www.alpharubicon.com/mrpoyz/glock/

The PDF version can be downloaded here: The $0.25 Glock trigger job.pdf

  1. Get an Uncle Mikes kydex holster

  2. 3 Uncle Mikes single mag pouches

  3. 3 spare mags for your gun.

  4. A pair of safety glasses

  5. Set of ear plugs

That is all you need to get started.  Take the above to the nearest match and learn to shoot better.  Don’t let equipment stand in your way, “Just do it!”

  1. KWA-17 Gun: These are very reliable and will hold up to FoF, many airsoft guns will not.  It is better to use a gun that does not match your carry gun than to have an exact replica that does not work.  FoF is not about the gun, it’s about decision making, learning to move and shoot, and shooting with the distractions of a live opponent.

  2. Hop-up Kit: Makes you feel the hits better smile

  3. Airsoft Innovations Propane Adapter: Will allow you to use propane instead of expensive “green gas” which is propane with lubricant in it. BIG $$$ saver!

  4. Airsoft Ultra Light-Weight Silicone Oil: One drop every few mags to keep gun lubricated.

  5. Paintball Mask: Goggles are NOT enough, unless you like BB’s up your nose at 320fps!

This is a very personal area that will require several issues to be addressed before you can get a “perfect” fit to you, your gun, and lifestyle.

There are two (listed below) that have proven themselves to work for MOST people.  The odds of getting one that fits you well first time out are greatly increased by selecting one of these two.

There are many others which do as well or better a job also, but these are the most popular because of design and availability.

Tactical Reload (Tac-Load):

is recharging the gun during a lull in the action.

  1. Drawing a spare magazine prior to the ejection of the partial magazine from the gun.
  2. Dropping the partial magazine from the gun into the palm of your weak hand.
  3. Inserting the spare magazine into the gun.
  4. Stowing the partial magazine.

Reload with Retention (RWR):

is recharging the gun during a lull in the action.

  1. Dropping the partial magazine from the gun.
  2. Stowing the partial magazine.
  3. Drawing a spare magazine.
  4. Inserting the spare magazine into the gun.

Slide-Lock (Emergency) Reload:

is recharging the gun when it is completely empty.

  1. Dropping the empty magazine.
  2. Drawing a spare magazine.
  3. Inserting the spare magazine into the gun.
  4. Racking the slide or hitting the slide release button.

Speed-Load:

is the same as a slide-lock reload but with the slide forward. Thats why its not called a slide-lock reload.

I have kids in the house, how can I have my gun ready but kept safe from curious kids?

  1. The best way is to educate them about firearms and the dangers of them, but also that they can be safe when handled correctly.  Take the curiosity away with education.

The NRA has a great program for doing exactly this called the “Eddie Eagle” program.

  2. Second, get a fast access safe for the bedroom night stand.
Gun Vault 1000 (Mini) Handgun Safe
or the cheaper solution is found at Harborfreight.com

    Small Electronic Safe

I recently (Feb. 2007) decided to make my own logbook for my rifle after looking at a few samples on the net and after not being happy with my T.R.G.T. Log Book purchase.  The T.R.G.T. is a good book, but it has two (2) things going against it.  First, it’s spiral bound, which is great for a Police SS, but not what I needed.  Second, is that it (as every other book I have seen) has many pages that I will never use in my shooting style.

I recently decided I had made too much money working overtime and needed to buy a treat.

I had thought about a suppressor for a few years but never wanted to take the time or trouble to get all the paperwork done to own one, and for the cost you can buy some nice guns.

Good question, and like most good questions, the answer is “it depends.”

This is a very good and accurate ballistics spreadsheet I found on the net.  The documents “properties” shows the creator as a “David L. King” (1998) and last modified by “Ralph Greininger” (2007) to both of which I say “thank you!”

Why am I always armed? Why do I train continuously?

This from a friend who works in a prison:

“Today, I had an opportunity to hear stories from several violent offenders, straight from their own lips. All were in excellent physical shape and would (and do!) put up a serious fight in any situation. I know few people could prevail against them with only bare hands. When there is more than one, any one of us would be in serious danger. Put any one of them into regular clothing, and they would blend right in most anywhere.

One inmate revealed the reason he was in the prison was multiple murders. He got high on meth one evening and decided to break into a home. He tied up the terrified (an unarmed) husband and wife, then decided to murder them. With a pocket knife, he sawed on a woman’s neck until he had cut her head off. Before he himself was similarly murdered, her husband heard every one of her screams and gurgles!

He took the victims’ car and headed out of state. On the way, he ran out of gas, so he stopped another car, murdered the unarmed driver (again with a pocket knife), and took that car.

He continued to meet and murder people over the next week, seven in three states. Finally, he returned home, married his girlfriend, and became a father! Using DNA analysis, detectives secured a warrant for his arrest two years later.

This is just one prison story, and by no means the worst! This institution alone is full of them.”

Comment: Next time someone asks you why you go armed, tell them this story!

You return home from work to find that a gang has taken your wife hostage and is waiting around the house to collect their drug money that they “think” you stole from them. Obviously a case of mistaken identity, but fearing for your wife’s life and your own you must act decisively and do some house cleaning.

You wake from a deep sleep to find that a gang of drug merchants have come to collect their drug money that they “think” you stole from them. Obviously a case of mistaken identity, but fearing for your wife’s life and your own you must act decisively, grabbing the shotgun out of the bedroom and start your own “War Against Drugs.”

How many times have you read or heard the Four Rules of Firearms Safety?
  1. All guns are always loaded.
  2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger 'till your sights are on the target.
  4. Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Sold at ACE Hardware Stores for $15.99

This is a nifty way to get your rifle’s angled fire measurement and doubles as a straight edge in the databook.

I use to have a fancy Sniper’s Tools ACF but found that I rarely shoot at an angle over 10deg and/or don’t take the time to calc. the difference on the POI to justify the money for such a nice tool.

The method in the video below is what I use now compared to the conversion chart (angle/COS) on my data logbook pages.

Below is my attempt to summarize 166 with it’s own words. You can get the low down quickly by reading just the highlighted words.

To see the whole content check the statute itself which can be found at: http://www.leg.state.or.us/ors/166.html

(Performed by Bigbore of Adco Firearms)

For almost 10 years I’ve been abusing and neglecting my Glock 21. Its been a running joke among some friends and I. Nothing was planned or documented. As I tell people what it has been through, most simply don’t believe me. I guess I wouldn’t either. If someone told you their Glock has at least 150K rounds through it and has gone almost 15K rounds with no cleaning or maintenance would you believe them?
